Mission & Vision

We are an Ibero-American Observatory of Health and Citizenship, composed of researchers, professors and students whose overall goal is issues related to global public health. The IOHC contributes to this vision by providing a multidisciplinary environment that bridges traditional quantitative biological heritage with a qualitative social and political perspective. The observatory is based at the Center for Health Sciences at the Federal University of Paraíba/ (CCS/UFPB) - Brazil and at the Interdisciplinary Center for Gender Studies at the Institute for Social and Political Sciences of the University of Lisbon (CIEG/ISCSP/UL) - Portugal, and in direct collaboration with ASyiF - Association of Health and Family of Catalonia/Spain, the Center for Women's Studies at the University of Salamanca (CEMUSA) and the Center for Research and Gender Studies at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (CIEG/UNAM).

MIGREL International Conference 2023

We live in an era of constantly shifting migration flows driven by various intersecting factors. These include war and conflict, the globalisation of economies, values, and aspirations, changing technologies and means of communication, shifting demographics, socio-economic development, and not least environmental issues and climate change. This conference wishes to focus on the interface between migration, religion, and intercultural relations, viewing these interrelated dimensions as a rich and colourful tapestry of interweaving theories and approaches.
